Everybody’s Stupid, Part XX

People want shit to be one way. If you’re a fan of the classic, critically acclaimed HBO series, The Wire, you remember when Marlo told the security guard outside the convenience store, “You want it to be one way, but it’s the other way”! Now, that’s not the first time I’ve heard the “one way” thing, but it’s one of the most notable quotable lines from a popular piece of entertainment in black culture. What Marlo meant by the statement was, ‘it doesn’t matter what you want me to do, I do whatever the fuck I want’. No longer than an hour before I began writing this post, I had a conversation with one of my young relatives about black culture and cultural appropriation. She insisted that Justin Bieber’s recent dreadlock hairdo was an affront to black culture, and a slight to “our” African heritage. I attempted to inform her that shit like that doesn’t matter! I asked her, “How would you feel if someone told you that you shouldn’t do something you wanted to do”? She replied, “I would do it anyway”! Then I asked her, “So, what’s different about what Justin Bieber is doing with his hair”? Her response was, “That’s different, because that hairstyle is meant for our hair type”. I then proceeded to tell her, “No matter what people do, somebody is going to have a problem with it. If you’re going to do whatever you want, regardless of what anybody thinks, why would anybody care about you disapproving their choices”? She then went on a completely petty and inconsequential spiel about white people calling black people niggers “because they want to”, and I realized I would never get her to understand that shit will never be one way. Of course, I didn’t use any profanity or aggressive tones during our debate. But, what fucking sense does it make to perennially dedicate time and energy into shit you will never be able to control?! Justin Bieber has been under the harsh scrutiny of the public eye since he was a young teen, so he knew people would have a problem with his dreads before he twisted his hair—he didn’t give a fuck! And why should he? Why should anybody give a fuck about what other people think? Shit, I want to go skydiving and spelunking one day, is that considered cultural appropriation as well? This shit is stupid! The fact of the matter is, people are always going to do whatever the fuck they want to do, and you’re just wasting your life away if you’re sitting around bitching and griping about shit that ain’t got nothing to do with you—shit that is unconditionally out of your control!

I think prioritization skills are one of the most crucial personal attributes that contributes to a person’s success. In the last blog entry, I mentioned that the two most important things in my life are staying alive and being happy. Those are the two focal points I fixate on when deciding what’s important to me and what’s not. Worrying about what the fuck other people are doing or agonizing over what people have to say about what I’m doing are things I will never waste my time on! Granted, I spend some time passing judgement, as we all do. However, my criticism of other people’s actions is always meant to highlight the conspicuous misconceptions, flawed logic, and plain stupidity people use to victimize themselves in their own faults. People often seek commiseration in place of condemnation, because they never want to admit when they’re wrong. For instance, I believe a lot of black people sanction racial bias and social injustice by consciously epitomizing every disagreeable statistic and indefensible stereotype that white people actively accuse blacks of! All you have to do is listen to one mega-popular drill music rap tune, or watch one episode of The First 48, or witness one altercation between two rivaling groups of black men to understand that niggas intentionally act like niggers! Peep this. Back when slavery was abolished and all subjugated blacks were declared free, racist white people used media and propaganda to stoke fear in ignorant whites and rile up whites who already hated the fact that slaves were freed. They portrayed black people as untamable savages that required subjugation to be controlled, and it worked. Those false accusations made it even harder for black people to prosper as freed American citizens. Essentially, at a time, black people had no choice but to rob, steal, and commit other crimes to survive. Today is nothing like what shit used to be like. Blacks who are less fortunate have government benefit programs like Welfare, SNAP, HUD, WIC, and Medicaid that can help them live comfortably. Blacks are able to work just about anywhere they want, there are ethnic-specific grants for college tuition assistance and business funding, and very few obstacles exist for savvy people of color. Yes, racism and discrimination still exist, and they always will. As long as opinions differ, people will disagree. But, why make it harder on purpose? Why join a gang? Why sell drugs? Why participate in senseless violence? Why continuously conceive children you don’t want? Why the fuck do you blame everybody but the person responsible for your fuck-ups? Get the fuck out of here, niggas!

Personally, there’s a lot worse things I can be called than a nigger. At the end of the day, the last thing I want to be called is, stupid! Niggas are stupid! Niggas are niggers! Please share this post if you feel the need. I don’t say whatever the fuck I want on a personal blog, with the blog’s main title in my namesake, because I’m afraid to have the “tough” conversations. Oxford dictionary defines nigger as “a contemptuous term for a black or dark-skinned person”. Additionally, we all know the word’s more in-depth implications. Ask yourself, if a nigger is a worthless black person who acts like a savage, and niggas are often perdurable societal detriments who refer to themselves as savages, am I wrong?! I know we don’t all have the same opportunities. I’m aware of the omnipresence of mental illness in America, especially amongst blacks, who often refuse to seek clinical treatment by tradition. I am also knowledgeable of the moral diversity amid black people. We’re not all the same. We’re not all criminals, gang bangers, strippers, prostitutes, pimps, drug dealers, drug abusers, etc. So, why the fuck do we always see more bad than good? Why the fuck is Young Thug a bigger influence than Young Pharaoh? Why the fuck should I pretend like niggas ain’t the biggest cause of their own hardships? Why the fuck should white people blame themselves for creating a whole culture of people who willfully covet sex, drugs, and violence? I’m smarter than y’all! By “y’all”, I mean mostly everybody. There’s always a bigger picture, and even if I don’t see the whole picture all the time, I always see more of it than most people. A lot of people like to believe that anybody who thinks they’re smart is really dumb. That’s the dumbest shit ever to me! Am I supposed to leave it up to y’all’s stupid asses to assess and deduce how smart I am? How smart could I be if I didn’t know how smart I am? Is it narcissistic for me to self-proclaim a high level of intelligence? If you think you know for a fact that I am not as smart as I think I am, what type of narcissistic shit is that? How can I be a narcissist for believing I’m smarter than you, but you’re not a narcissist for believing I’m not smarter than you? Your fucking logic ain’t logical enough! I’m done. Until next time, niggers…
